Health of the Auto Industry

Have you ever had a job and were laid off either in a foreign or American automotive facility just because they wanted to save a little money? General Motors announced that by 2008 30,000 of 173,000 jobs would be axed and would shut down 12 facilities. In the first month of 2005 they lost $4 billion in the first nine months. General Motors also hopes to cut its annual $42 billion operational costs by $7 billion by shutting down plants and cutting workers health benefits (GM’s cup of Woes: Automotive Industries; July 2005).
Cars companies today in the foreign and American industry both have been viewed as companies that will let you down meaning that they have let down their customers in the quality and safeness in their vehicles. In the automotive foreign industry, cars have good quality, good gas mileage, and are a lot cheaper but the parts are much overpriced so they can get the moneys values worth that the person paid for the car to the point that not a lot of people want to buy foreign cars for that reason. Car parts for foreign have reached an all time high you can’t have it break down because one part costs a large expense of money.
In the American automotive industry cars are almost completely made of plastic. Also the technology and machinery imbedded inside the car constantly things are failing or malfunctioning like dashboard lights and engine gaskets. American car companies may work together in distributing parts together. They are also always interested in saving money. Saving money so much at a certain degree that their customers and workers become at fault then after that happens they become victims of the automotive society.
In conclusion, I would like to say sometimes you have to avoid saving money to get reliability and safety. Taking chances can have a good or bad effect depending on how long you take chances and how fortunate you can get. Car company executives advise their presidents’ different ideas to save money but never look at the problems or probably don’t care about the problems induced by their ideas unless it affects the company to the point of bankruptcy. All the time every year you hear about plant after plant being closed and you always wonder when is this madness going to stop. Automotive companies need to stop saving money and closing of plants. They have as much money as it is. This interferes with a workers life so they can provide for a family if they have one or provide for themselves. Then we can help the automotive industry involving the quality, safeness, cost of the customers’ cars, and the end of plant workers health care. In the end reassuring them of they they will their indefinitely keep their jobs.
